Note: Prices rechecked Sunday, October 25, 2026, around 7:15 a.m. America/New_York. The single AirTag 2 Amazon listing (ASIN B0GJTFXNRX) showed $23.00 (list $29.00, about 21% off). The AirTag 2nd gen 4 pack (ASIN B0GJTXVN9Z) showed $89.00 sold by Amazon.com (list $99.00). 9to5Toys called the $23 single an Amazon all-time low the same morning. Tap through for the live number before you buy — these flip.
If you are hunting the best AirTag deals this weekend, the choice is not “is AirTag 2 good?” — reviewers already answered that — it is single vs 4-pack math while the single sits at an all-time low. This guide covers the live Amazon prices, per-tag cost, AirTag 2 vs 1 / AirTag 2nd gen vs 1st gen upgrades, AirTag 2 battery life, AirTag 2 range, and who should actually replace a first-gen tag.
The short answer
| Pick | Best for | List | Price checked Oct 25, 2026 | Per tag |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AirTag 2 single | One bag, keys, or wallet | $29 | Amazon B0GJTFXNRX: $23.00 | $23.00 |
| AirTag 2 4-pack | Keys + luggage + house set | $99 | Amazon B0GJTXVN9Z: $89.00 | $22.25 |
Buy the single if you need one, two, or three tags. At today’s $23, two singles are $46 and three are $69 — both cheaper than opening a 4-pack you will not fill.
Buy the AirTag 2 pack (4-pack) when you will use all four. Four singles would be $92; the AirTag 2nd gen 4 pack at $89 saves $3 and lands at $22.25 per tag.
Keep AirTag 1 if your first-gen tags already find keys and bags well enough. MacRumors and PCMag both say most owners should not rush an upgrade; buy AirTag 2 when you need more tags, louder chirps, longer Precision Finding, or Apple Watch directions.

Why this deal matters right now
Apple still lists AirTag (2nd generation) at $29 / $99 for four — Tom’s Guide praised Apple for holding that sticker (Tom’s Guide). Street pricing is Amazon:
- Single B0GJTFXNRX: $23 (list $29) on our October 25 open. 9to5Toys called it a new Amazon all-time low after a long $24 stretch (9to5Toys, Oct 25, 2026).
- 4-pack B0GJTXVN9Z: $89 on Amazon.com — the record-low band AppleInsider covered when Amazon cut $10 off earlier in 2026 (AppleInsider). 9to5Toys has seen the multipack nearer $80 before; we did not see $80 on the live Amazon.com offer, so we are not quoting it.
For best AirTag deals shoppers: confirm the ASIN, do the per-tag math, skip marketplace lookalikes.

Per-tag math (do this before you click)
Use today’s numbers only:
| You need | Cheapest path today | Total | Per tag |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Single | $23 | $23.00 |
| 2 | 2× single | $46 | $23.00 |
| 3 | 3× single | $69 | $23.00 |
| 4 | 4-pack | $89 | $22.25 |
| 5 | 4-pack + 1 single | $112 | $22.40 |
Four singles = $92. One 4-pack = $89. The multipack wins by $3 — only if the fourth tag leaves the drawer. Keys-plus-backpack buyers should stop at one or two singles and spend leftover cash on a holder.
When AppleInsider covered $89 with the single nearer $27, the AirTag 2 pack was the obvious win. At today’s $23 single, the gap shrinks. The 4-pack is still the lowest per-tag price we verified; it is no longer automatic for every cart.
AirTag 2 vs 1: what actually changed
The puck still looks like a puck: same 1.26-inch diameter, IP67 rating, and “buy a case for a keyring hole” design. MacRumors’ only cosmetic tell was uppercase back text plus IP67 wording (MacRumors). PCMag put weight around 0.41–0.42 oz and noted Tile/SmartTag still include attachment holes (PCMag).
Under the shell, the AirTag 2nd gen vs 1st gen gap is real:
- Second-gen Ultra Wideband + upgraded Bluetooth — Precision Finding about 1.5× prior range (Apple).
- Speaker — Apple says 50% louder with a sharper chime; reviewers hear it through couches and park noise.
- Apple Watch Precision Finding — Series 9 / Ultra 2 and newer get arrow directions; MacRumors called this the best new reason to care.
- Anti-stalking hardening — louder chirp and harder-to-remove speaker (MacRumors).
Amazon listing notes (Oct 25): expanded iPhone Precision Finding targets newer UWB phones (cites iPhone Air / iPhone 15 or later with regional caveats; excludes iPhone 16e). Watch Precision Finding wants watchOS 26.2.1 on Series 9 / Ultra 2-class hardware. Pairing wants iOS/iPadOS 26-class devices per the listing.

AirTag 2 range: what reviewers measured
AirTag 2 range is what people quote to justify the refresh. We have not run yard tests; third-party numbers:
- Tom’s Guide: iPhone 17 Pro walkaway — AirTag 2 ~74 ft, AirTag 1 ~50 ft (~1.48×), near Apple’s 1.5× claim (Tom’s Guide).
- PCMag: park reconnect — ~60 ft vs ~45 ft; whole-house (~2,000 sq ft) direct link for gen 2 vs ~25 ft / one floor for gen 1 (PCMag).
- MacRumors: backpack-behind-walls and multi-floor office tests favored AirTag 2 for holding signal sooner (MacRumors).
Far-field finding still uses the Find My crowd network, not onboard GPS. Cities update often; empty trailheads show last-seen until another Apple device passes. Couch-keys and conference-room bags benefit from longer Precision Finding and the louder speaker. Suitcase-in-another-country tracking still depends on network density — gen 1 already uses that network.

AirTag 2 battery life
AirTag 2 battery life is still a user-replaceable CR2032. Apple’s Amazon copy says more than a year on everyday sound / Precision Finding use (Apple testing, December 2025, per the listing disclaimer). Tom’s Guide expected about a year after a short loaner; PCMag repeats Apple’s ~one-year guidance and notes original tags often lasted longer in their experience (Tom’s Guide; PCMag).
Still no MagSafe recharge or Watch-charger trick, and Tom’s Guide still wants better low-battery nagging. Swap when Find My alerts; keep spare CR2032 cells if you run a house full of tags. Amazon reviews on the shared listing are mixed on battery longevity — treat that as anecdote, not a lab score.
Who should upgrade from AirTag 1
Upgrade (or mix in AirTag 2) if you have an Apple Watch Series 9 / Ultra 2 or newer and want wrist Precision Finding; you hunt tags through walls or loud rooms; you are buying new tags anyway at $23 / $22.25; or gen 1 batteries are dying and you want fresh hardware.
Stay on AirTag 1 if your tags already ping well, you mainly need crowd-sourced luggage updates, or you do not want another case run — design is identical, so accessories carry over.
MacRumors: most people should not replace working gen 1 units; heavy users might (MacRumors). PCMag’s Editors’ Choice agrees the original still finds stuff — buy gen 2 for the new tools or more tags (PCMag).

Product 1: AirTag 2 single (ASIN B0GJTFXNRX)
Apple AirTag (2nd Generation) — single on Amazon · ASIN B0GJTFXNRX · model MFE94LL/A
Impulse-buy SKU: one puck, CR2032 included, Find My in a tap. On October 25 it led best AirTag deals coverage because $23 undercut the long $24 floor 9to5Toys tracked since mid-August.
What the listing ships / claims
From Amazon B0GJTFXNRX (checked Oct 25, 2026): second-gen UWB + Bluetooth; Precision Finding “up to 1.5×”; 50% louder speaker; Precision Finding on supported iPhone and Apple Watch; Share Item Location; IP67; 1.26 × 0.31 in; ~0.42 oz; replaceable CR2032 (Apple: more than a year). Shared review pool 4.6 stars from about 12,294 ratings. Sold by Amazon.com, in stock, with Prime options shown.
Our take: AirTag 2 single (ASIN B0GJTFXNRX) — Not rated yet
The buy if you need one to three tags while Amazon is at $23. Skip stacking four singles — do the math against the 4-pack instead.
- Pro: Live $23 (list $29) — deepest single discount we confirmed Oct 25, 2026; 9to5Toys all-time-low call
- Pro: Same Find My / Precision Finding / louder speaker hardware as the multipack
- Con: Per-tag loses to the 4-pack by $0.75 if you truly need four
- Con: Still no built-in keyring hole; plan ~$5–$35 for a holder
Price: $23.00 on Amazon Oct 25, 2026, ~7:15 a.m. America/New_York (list $29.00). Not tested by us. Rating: Not rated yet.
Product 2: AirTag 2nd gen 4 pack (ASIN B0GJTXVN9Z)
Apple AirTag (2nd Generation) — 4 Pack on Amazon · ASIN B0GJTXVN9Z · model MFEA4LL/A
Household SKU for four items you will actually attach. AppleInsider framed $89 as a return to the Prime Day 2026 record low (AppleInsider); our October 25 Amazon.com open matched $89 (list $99).
Per-tag reality check
$89 ÷ 4 = $22.25, beating four singles at $92 — not beating a one-, two-, or three-tag cart. An Amazon Resale mid-$80s offer appeared with packaging notes; we are not treating Resale as the primary deal. Stick to Amazon.com / $89 unless you accept open-box risk.

Our take: AirTag 2 4-pack (ASIN B0GJTXVN9Z) — Not rated yet
The buy when four tags leave the box this month. Best per-tag number we verified today; weak value if two sit in a junk drawer.
- Pro: $22.25 each at $89 — lowest per-tag among the two ASINs we opened
- Pro: Same gen-2 UWB, louder speaker, Watch Precision Finding as the single
- Con: Only saves $3 vs four singles at today’s $23 single price
- Con: 9to5Toys has seen the multipack nearer $80 before — $89 is good, not necessarily the absolute floor forever
Price: $89.00 on Amazon.com Oct 25, 2026, ~7:15 a.m. America/New_York (list $99.00). Not tested by us. Rating: Not rated yet.
How AirTag 2 fits the rest of your Apple desk
AirTag tracks items, not your phone. Foldable shopping is in iPhone Duo vs Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Duo Apple Pencil support; living-room gear in Apple TV 4K 2026 vs 2022; hubs in Apple HomeView vs Echo Show vs Nest Hub 2026. None replace a $23 puck on your keys — they explain why Find My keeps winning inside Apple’s stack.
How to choose in one minute
- Need 1–3 tags? Buy the single at $23 as many times as you need.
- Need exactly 4 (or will use 4)? Buy the 4-pack at $89.
- Need 5+? 4-pack plus singles; re-check both ASINs.
- Happy with AirTag 1? Keep it. Spend the deal money on a case or a CR2032 multipack instead.
- Android household? AirTag is the wrong network — PCMag points Android users at SmartTag 2 / Tile instead.
FAQ
Is the AirTag 2 single or the 4-pack the better deal today?
Depends on count. Oct 25, 2026: single $23, 4-pack $89 ($22.25 each). Need 1–3 → singles. Need four you will use → 4-pack (saves $3 vs four singles).
What is the AirTag 2 vs 1 difference that matters most?
Longer Precision Finding, louder speaker, and Apple Watch Precision Finding on Series 9 / Ultra 2-class watches. Design and CR2032 are carryovers.
How is AirTag 2 battery life?
Apple: more than a year on a replaceable CR2032 with typical Precision Finding / sound use. Reviewers expect a similar yearly cadence; we have not aged a unit.
What is AirTag 2 range like?
Apple claims ~1.5× Precision Finding distance. Tom’s Guide ~74 vs ~50 ft; PCMag ~60 vs ~45 ft park reconnects. Crowd-sourced Find My still needs nearby Apple devices.
Should I upgrade every AirTag 1 I own?
Usually no. Upgrade tags you hunt indoors often, or when you need Watch directions. Keep working gen 1 units on luggage that only needs network pings.
