ASUS Vivobook S16 32GB: The $1,399.99 Deal Ended. Now What?

ASUS Vivobook S16 32GB deal check: the $1,399.99 price ended Oct 20. Soldered RAM, Wi-Fi 6, the real battery claim, and three Copilot+ laptops to consider.

The ASUS Vivobook S16 with 32GB of RAM was $1,399.99 on Amazon last week, $300 under ASUS’s own price. On October 20 it was back up to $1,665.19. So the deal ended, at least for now. This is a check of model M3607GA-ES99: what it costs today, what the price has done this month, what’s soldered down, what the 23-hour battery claim covers, and three Copilot+ laptops to look at instead.

Note: We haven’t tested the Vivobook S16 or any laptop below, so nothing here is a review result. Specs come from ASUS, Microsoft and the Amazon listings. Amazon prices were checked October 20, 2026, between about 7:15 and 7:30 a.m. ET, and they change often.

The short answer

  • At $1,665.19, it’s not a deal. That’s $35 under ASUS’s $1,699.99 list price, and BasketPrice calls $1,689.00 its usual price.
  • At $1,349.49 to $1,399.99, it was. That range held from October 6 to 19. If you can wait, it may come back, perhaps around Black Friday.
  • What you get: a 10-core Ryzen AI 9 465, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD and a 16-inch 1920 x 1200 OLED in a 3.75-pound laptop.
  • What you give up: half the RAM is soldered and 32GB is the ceiling, Wi-Fi is only Wi-Fi 6, the OLED runs at 60Hz, and the 23-hour battery figure comes from a different configuration.
  • Want something today near $1,400 to $1,500? Look at the Surface Laptop 13.8-inch (2026) at $1,510.17 if 16GB is enough, or a Snapdragon Vivobook S16 at $1,472.97 from a third-party seller.

What the ASUS Vivobook S16 M3607GA-ES99 is

This is the top configuration of ASUS’s 2026 Vivobook S16 (M3607) line. Per the ASUS eShop listing:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen AI 9 465, 10 cores and 20 threads, up to 5.0GHz
  • NPU: AMD XDNA, up to 50 TOPS
  • Memory: 32GB DDR5, 16GB on board plus 16GB in a SO-DIMM slot, 32GB maximum
  • Storage: 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD in the only M.2 2280 slot
  • Display: 16-inch 1920 x 1200 OLED, 16:10, 60Hz, 95% DCI-P3, non-touch
  • Ports: two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, HDMI 2.1 (TMDS) and a 3.5mm jack, per the product description
  • Wireless: Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) 2x2, Bluetooth 5.4
  • Battery and charger: 70Wh, with a 68W USB-C adapter
  • Weight: 1.70 kg (3.75 pounds), 0.63 to 0.70 inches thick
  • Camera: 1080p IR camera for Windows Hello, with a privacy shutter

One oddity: Amazon’s summary box lists the CPU as “AMD Ryzen AI 9 390,” while the rest of the listing and ASUS say Ryzen AI 9 465. Go with ASUS.

The price: $1,399.99 last week, $1,665.19 today

Here’s what each source showed:

  • Amazon, October 20: $1,665.19, sold and shipped by Amazon.com, in stock. Amazon’s offer list also had a used “Very Good” unit from Amazon Resale at $1,426.97.
  • ASUS eShop, October 20: $1,699.99, in stock.
  • Amazon, October 18: $1,399.99, sold and shipped by Amazon.com, per RR Tech Pulse, which read the listing at 6:10 p.m. ET.
  • Digital Citizen, October 20: its deal post still reports $1,399.99; the price had moved by the time we checked.

BasketPrice, which tracks the listing, has the full timeline. It first recorded the laptop at $1,699.99 on September 13. The price drifted to $1,689.00 on September 21, then dropped to $1,399.99 on October 6. It dipped to $1,384.99 on October 7 and to a low of $1,349.49 on October 9. That low held through October 15, then went back to $1,399.99 on October 16. On October 20 it jumped $265.20 to $1,665.19.

So the $1,349.49 low on October 9 holds, with a caveat: BasketPrice attributes it to a third-party seller. Amazon’s own lowest was $1,384.99 on October 7. The usual price across 38 days is $1,689.00.

Is the $1,699.99 list price real? Yes. ASUS’s store charges exactly that and showed it in stock on October 20. Digital Citizen adds that ASUS sells two six-core Ryzen AI 7 445 versions for $1,599.99, so at $1,399.99 the 10-core model undercut ASUS’s price for the slower chip by $200. At $1,665.19, it costs $65 more.

Check the model number. RR Tech Pulse found other Ryzen AI 9 465 Vivobook S16 listings on Amazon from $949.99 to $1,648.99, including a third-party non-OLED touchscreen model. Match “M3607GA-ES99” and “OLED” before you pay.

Half the 32GB is soldered, and 32GB is the ceiling

This holds exactly as described. ASUS’s spec reads “16GB DDR5 on board, 16GB DDR5 SO-DIMM, Max Total system memory up to: 32GB.” Amazon’s details also list a 32GB maximum.

In practice:

  • You can replace the 16GB stick, but you can’t go past 32GB.
  • Storage is the same: ASUS’s “1x M.2 2280” count includes slots in use, so the 1TB drive fills the only one. More storage means swapping it.
  • ASUS doesn’t publish the memory speed or SSD brand, Digital Citizen notes.

For office work, photo editing and light coding, 32GB is plenty for years. If you’ll want 64GB later, this isn’t the laptop. With memory prices still climbing (see our RAM prices in 2026 explainer), shipping with 32GB is a reasonable hedge.

The NPU: 50 TOPS, not 73

This holds too. ASUS lists the NPU at “up to 50 TOPS.” Microsoft requires more than 40 TOPS for the Copilot+ PC label, so it qualifies. Digital Citizen, citing AMD’s spec page, says the “up to 73 TOPS” figure for the Ryzen AI 9 465 is the whole platform, CPU, GPU and NPU together, not the NPU alone. We didn’t open AMD’s page directly, so that split is Digital Citizen’s reading.

The Snapdragon machines below list 80 TOPS. Day to day, that matters less than it sounds; Copilot+ features need the 40 TOPS floor, and both clear it.

Wi-Fi 6 only

Confirmed: ASUS lists “Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) (Dual band) 2x2.” No 6GHz band, no Wi-Fi 7. On a Wi-Fi 6 or older router you won’t notice; on a Wi-Fi 7 router you’ll leave speed on the table. Every alternative below has Wi-Fi 7.

ASUS Vivobook S16 battery life: the 23 hours is from another configuration

This holds. ASUS’s Vivobook S16 (M3607) product page promises “up to 23 hours” from the 70Wh battery. Its footnote says ASUS tested in December 2025 using 1080p video playback, on a Vivobook S16 (M3607GA) with a WUXGA OLED panel, a Ryzen AI 7 445 and 16GB of RAM. Wi-Fi and the keyboard backlight were off, the power mode was Balanced, and brightness was 150 nits.

That isn’t the model on sale. The ES99 has a 10-core chip and twice the memory, and you’ll use Wi-Fi. Expect less than 23 hours; nobody has published a test of this configuration. The ES99’s eShop page repeats the 23-hour line with only a generic “may vary” note.

What’s solid: the battery is 70Wh, and ASUS says fast charging reaches 60% in 49 minutes with the included 68W USB-C adapter.

The screen: OLED, but 60Hz and no brightness figure

The OLED is 1920 x 1200 at 0.2ms and 95% DCI-P3, but only 60Hz; ASUS’s 120Hz option on this chassis is an LCD touchscreen. Digital Citizen notes ASUS publishes no brightness figure for the panel, a gap on a laptop sold on its screen. It’s sharp enough at 16 inches, not as crisp as the Zenbook S16’s 2880 x 1800.

ASUS Vivobook S16 review status: we found no independent review of the ES99. Amazon showed 3.8 stars from just four ratings on October 20.

Vivobook S16 vs Zenbook S16. The Zenbook S16 is ASUS’s premium 16-inch with the same Ryzen AI 9 465 and 32GB. Per its Amazon listing, it adds a 2880 x 1800 OLED touchscreen at 120Hz and 500 nits, Wi-Fi 7, two USB4 ports, and a lighter 3.42-pound body. The catch is price. The only US Amazon listing we found was $2,019.99 from a third-party seller, bundled with a mousepad and Windows 11 Pro. Its details also say “SO-DIMM” next to LPDDR5X, which contradict each other, so don’t count on upgrading it. At $1,399.99 the Vivobook was the clear value pick. At $1,665.19 against about $2,020, the Zenbook is easier to justify.

Surface Laptop 13.8-inch (2026). The 2026 Surface Laptop isn’t at $1,399.99 on Amazon today. The Snapdragon X2 Elite, 16GB and 512GB model in Black was $1,510.17, sold by Amazon, with one left. Its Amazon listing gives 3 pounds, up to 20 hours of video playback, Wi-Fi 7, two USB4 ports and an 80 TOPS NPU. You get half the RAM and half the storage, a smaller LCD and a 120Hz touchscreen. It’s also an Arm laptop. Most apps run, and older x86-only tools run through emulation; our Surface Laptop Ultra vs MacBook Pro piece covers what that means.

Vivobook S16 with Snapdragon X2 Elite. ASUS also sells this chassis with a Snapdragon X2 Elite, 16GB, a 1TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7 and an 80 TOPS NPU, in Mist Blue. On October 20 it was $1,472.97 from third-party seller eGoodies, with one left. It keeps the 16-inch OLED and fixes the Wi-Fi, but halves the RAM, and its Amazon listing gets some specs wrong (it says “16 MB” of RAM in the details).

Best Copilot+ laptop in 2026 near $1,400?

  • Most RAM per dollar: the Vivobook S16 ES99, but only near $1,400. Set a price alert.
  • Lightest, with the best battery claim: the Surface Laptop 13.8-inch, if 16GB is enough.
  • Best screen: the Zenbook S16, at a higher price.

Our take

We haven’t tested any of these laptops. None has an existing Ctrlaltorion rating: we searched the site’s repo and the live site, and our only Surface ratings are for the Surface Laptop Ultra and the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, which are different products. So none is rated yet.

  • Pro: 32GB and a 10-core Ryzen AI 9 465.
  • Pro: 16-inch OLED at 95% DCI-P3, plus a 70Wh battery.
  • Pro: Sold by Amazon.com, with a list price ASUS actually charges.
  • Con: 16GB soldered and a 32GB ceiling; one M.2 slot, already used.
  • Con: Wi-Fi 6, a 60Hz OLED with no published brightness, and a 23-hour claim tested on a smaller configuration. Why no rating: we haven’t tested it, and the site has no existing rating for it.

Price: $1,665.19 on Amazon (new, sold by Amazon.com; ASUS list $1,699.99; $1,399.99 as recently as October 19), checked October 20, 2026. Not tested by us.

Our take: Microsoft Surface Laptop 13.8-inch (2026), Snapdragon X2 Elite, 16GB, 512GB — not rated yet

The lighter, longer-lasting pick if you don’t need 32GB.

  • Pro: 3 pounds and up to 20 hours of video playback, per the listing.
  • Pro: Wi-Fi 7, two USB4 ports and an 80 TOPS NPU.
  • Pro: A 120Hz touchscreen.
  • Con: Half the RAM and storage of the Vivobook for more money than its old deal price.
  • Con: An Arm laptop, so check your x86-only apps. Why no rating: we haven’t tested it, and our Surface ratings cover only the Surface Laptop Ultra and RTX Spark Dev Box.

  • Con: About $355 more than the Vivobook today, and far more than its deal price.
